While doing research I noticed that many of the 16th and 17th century medical texts (and various other books/pamphlets) I look at have examples of illustrated lettering. I also noticed that many of them are very pretty, or more frequently quite amusing. I wanted to share my finds and decided to make them into a regular feature hence my Early Modern Alphabet.
The alphabet has been blogged in no particular order, but I hope that eventually I will have a full alphabet (although I haven't come across a Z yet!). The texts which the letters are taken from vary but so far they have mainly been from medical texts, keep checking back for new letters.
